Cookie Policy

1. About this policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Shrewsbury Town Football Club Foundation, known as Shrewsbury Town Foundation ("we", "us", "our"), uses cookies and similar technologies on www.foundationstfc.co.uk. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we look after your personal data.

2. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your computer, phone or tablet when you visit it. They let the website remember things, such as whether you have already answered our cookie banner. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, work in much the same way, so we treat them the same as cookies in this policy.

3. Your choice

When you first visit our website, a banner asks whether you accept non-essential cookies. If you choose "Reject non-essential", we only use the essential cookies the website needs to work. If you choose "Accept all", we may also use analytics cookies to help us understand how the website is used, so we can improve it.

You can change your mind at any time by clearing this website's cookies and stored data in your browser. The banner will then appear again on your next visit so you can choose again.

4. Cookies we use

Essential cookies – these are needed for the website to work properly and keep it secure. They do not track you and cannot be switched off.

  • Cookie choice (stfc-cookie-consent-v1) – remembers whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies, so we do not ask you on every visit. Kept until you clear it.
  • Poll votes (stfc_poll_voter) – set only if you vote in a poll on our website, so each person can vote once. It does not identify you. Kept for one year.
  • Security – our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set cookies (such as __cf_bm) to protect the website and our forms from spam and automated attacks. These usually last 30 minutes or less.
  • Staff sign-in – if a member of our team signs in to manage the website, a cookie keeps them signed in. Visitors to the public website do not receive this cookie.

Analytics cookies – these are only used if you choose "Accept all". Where we use Google Analytics, it sets cookies (such as _ga) that collect information about how visitors use our website, such as which pages are visited most. The information is gathered in a way that does not directly identify you. Google Analytics cookies last up to two years.

5. Other websites and embedded content

Some pages include content from other websites, such as videos from YouTube or Vimeo. These services may set their own cookies when you play their content. When you follow a link to another website, such as JustGiving to make a donation or the Shrewsbury Town Football Club website, that website's own cookie policy applies. We do not control these cookies, so please check the relevant website for more information.

6. Managing cookies in your browser

Most browsers let you see, delete and block cookies through their settings. If you block all cookies, some parts of our website, such as polls and forms, may not work properly. You can find out more about managing cookies at ico.org.uk.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we start using a new service. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
