On Tuesday afternoon some of our partner schools were treated to some virtual player appearances with members of the Shrewsbury Town first-team!

Due to current restrictions our usual player appearances have had to move online but that hasn’t stopped us from making the most of things and providing some of our partner schools fun ways to interact with some Shrewsbury Town stars!

Scott Golbourne called into a mentoring group within Shrewsbury Academy to take part in a short Q & A with pupils and spoke to them about the kinds of jobs available within a football club. Pupils were able to speak to Scott about his route into football and find out about his value of working hard to achieve his goals throughout life. The talk proved to be an inspiration for the pupils, having the opportunity to speak with a first-team player and learn some pearls of wisdom from the experienced Town defender. One commented, “I was amazed to find out that some footballers, like Scott, have other businesses away from football” and another pupil was excited to learn about the different opportunities available within a football club, “I found it really interesting to find out all about the different jobs there are at a football club as I hadn’t really thought about it before now.”

Also at Crowmoor Primary School, Dan Udoh surprised classes by calling in and taking part in an art lesson. The afternoon included Dan playing a game of Pictionary with pupils to apply their learning in a fun way along with help build team-working skills.
