Shrewsbury Town College & University, in partnership with University South Wales, is pleased to announce the launch of a Higher Education pathway at Welshpool High School.
From September 2023, Shrewsbury Town College and University will be delivering various degrees courses that will engage and inspire anyone wanting to access the Sports industry. The courses are designed to give every student a cutting edge learning experience by utilising the power of Sport and the platform of the only professional football club in Shropshire.
Courses include:
· Sports Business and Management
· Community Football Coaching & Development
· Sports Coaching & Development
Jon Arnold, Head Teacher of Welshpool High School said:
“I am delighted that Welshpool High School will be able to host this unique opportunity in partnership with Shrewsbury Town College & University and University South Wales. The courses offer a fantastic option for further studies and the sporting element is something very close to my heart. Hopefully students will be able to access a world of opportunities that are open through this route.
The school and local area is full of talented sports students, and it is our ambition to provide them with a local alternative to studying away from home. We believe this is the first step on the way to ensuring that we keep hold of much of the talent in Wales for that much longer and that this is the start of many exciting learning opportunities for the students of Powys and local areas in partnership with Shrewsbury Town College & University.
I have had the privilege of watching the impact that the Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation has had in the educational field so far, within schools and with students that I have taught previously and I am confident that they will continue to provide excellent opportunities for young people.

As part of the developing offer, we will be hosting a University Launch Event at Welshpool High School, Salop Road, SY21 7RE on Tuesday 6th December 2022 at 6:30pm.
