We’re Becoming Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation!

Shrewsbury Town in the Community will be relaunched and rebranded as Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation later this year.

Subject to approval from Companies House and the Charity Commission we will be changing our name which is designed to increase the prominence and strengthen the identity of the Football Club’s charitable arm.

Many supporters will be aware of Shrewsbury Town in the Community’s extensive work within the local community, some would have attended soccer schools or walking football sessions, and many have enrolled and completed further and higher education courses. But it is just as possible, that many are still not aware of the life changing work that happens every day.

Originally set up as Football in the Community in 1996 the Community Department of the football club transitioned into a charity in 2008 and year on year has increased the range of projects and activities engaging with all generations of Shrewsbury Town supporters. So, it is hoped with this rebrand and a short, easily recognisable name, that the Football Club and Foundation can begin to communicate more about the work that is being delivered across Shropshire.

“There are many reasons behind the move to rename as the Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation. We felt that the current name is long and does not clearly explain our relationship with the Football Club and the work we deliver. Far too often our work was recognised as being delivered by an external organisation on behalf of the football club which is clearly not the case. We wanted to have a name and identity that visibly shows we belong to the football club”

– Jamie Edwards, CEO of the Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation

The work of our official charity and now foundation is realising one of the club’s ambitions,  to be at the heart of the community. We hope the change of name continues to increase both awareness and recognition of the inspirational work that is delivered throughout Shropshire.

– Brian Caldwell, CEO Shrewsbury Town FC
