Youth Hub Skills Challenge Day – In Partnership with DWP

On Wednesday 25th March, Shrewsbury Town Foundation hosted another Skills Challenge Day as part of our Youth Hub programme, delivered in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

The day was packed with engaging activities designed to challenge participants, build confidence, and showcase potential career opportunities within the Army.

Participants stepped outside their comfort zones and took on new challenges through practical, hands-on experience. With guidance and support from Mark, the day began with an introduction and health and safety briefing, followed by a structured drill session. Participants were split into two squads to practise before going head-to-head in a best practice showdown.

The group then moved into a fieldcraft session, where they took part in camouflage face painting, a binocular workshop, and learned how to build a two-person shelter. These activities allowed participants to develop key skills, build resilience, and expand their knowledge by putting their learning into action.

Alongside the practical elements, the day also provided opportunities to build friendships, strengthen social skills, and explore future employment pathways.

Skills Challenge Days take place on the last Wednesday of each month at Shrewsbury Town Foundation. To find out what’s coming up next or for more information, please get in touch by emailing [email protected].
