From creating opportunities for young people in sport and wellbeing to supporting older residents in staying active and connected, Shrewsbury Town Foundation delivers a wide range of initiatives across the community – with events playing a key role in raising both funds and awareness.
Eight months ago, Ruth Pemberton joined the Foundation as the Events & Fundraising manager.
Ruth has brought vast experience from her previous roles and has quickly become an important member to the team.
Previously, she started a charity called Little Bags of Kindness, which created a link between people who wanted to give to charity and finding the correct cause for them.
Ruth also spent three years with Shropshire Mental Health Support as an administrator.
However, upon realising that they didn’t do events, she began to plan some.
Since moving to the Foundation, Ruth has organised a Gala Dinner, a Fashion Show and an event for International Women’s Day.
There are also plenty of events on the horizon that are in aid of the Foundation:

Ruth has played a massive part in bringing together the Sleep Out, saying: “I am so excited to help host a sleepout at the Croud Meadow.
“It’s an opportunity to sleep under the stars in the stands of an iconic Shropshire landmark, which happens to be in the club’s 140th year.
“This event is a celebration of the work we do and a chance to raise funds so we can continue expanding our footprint across Shropshire. We won’t stop until everybody has access to support they deserve.”
There are also several events planned for later in the year such as a Curry Event, Gala Dinner, Run the Distance, Run Rave and the Shrewsbury Town Open Day.
Details on those events will be announced in due course.
