Case Studies

Shrews4Mark

During his studies, Mark discovered how sport can both educate and inspire, setting him up for a career in teaching.

While studying at Ludlow College, Mark was given the opportunity to get involved as a coach in many of Shrewsbury Town’s sessions.

Following his initial involvement with Shrewsbury Town’s coaching sessions, Mark enrolled on our Foundation Degree course in August 2017 allowing him to further his experience across our sessions. In addition to his studies, this allowed Mark to gain valuable skills to further his career in sports.

Upon completion of his FA Level 2 coaching award, Mark has helped deliver on soccer schools, within the Advanced Development Centre, ShrewsAbility, and on Kick Cancer sessions.

“The degree programme at Shrewsbury Town in the Community has allowed me to realise my potential and achieve my goals.”

From Student to Staff Member

Following his studies, we welcomed Mark as a full time member of staff due to his commitment and passion for teaching participants. In addition to all of this Mark took part in the NCS trip to Ghana in October 2018,  took up the challenge of cycling to Blackpool in our Pedal2Pool event, and continues to get involved in many areas across the charity.

“The degree programme appealed to me because of the impact I could make in the local community. Since joining in 2017 I have had some fantastic opportunities which I am very grateful for. The support from my mentors here has been fantastic and they have helped me improve my confidence, communication and motivation to succeed. The degree programme at Shrewsbury Town has allowed me to realise my potential and achieve my goals.”  – Mark Bull – Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation Staff Member
