Shrews4Teddy

As a degree student, Teddy has been able to develop his skills and get ready for a career in sport.

Teddy had some experience with coaching but wanted to develop further, so he joined our degree programme and started to gain practical knowledge through our different sessions.

During his time at Sixth Form, Teddy found a passion for coaching but was limited with the opportunities to develop his skills further. This is when he discovered Shrewsbury Town’s educational offerings, which would allow him to learn both in the classroom and on the pitch through our Community Football Coaching & Development Degree.

Teddy showed his determination and passion straight away as he started his degree during the COVID pandemic, but this didn’t halt his progress. This made him more driven to refine his coaching abilities and prepared him for a variety of sessions when they started back up.

I believe that these experiences have developed me not only as a coach, but as a person

Part of the Team

Throughout his studies, Teddy has taken an active role in many of our programmes utilising the opportunity to apply what he’s learnt in the classroom to after school sessions. Alongside his degree course, he also took part in work experience as a way to get involved with the local community and broaden his expertise. Through this he has gained experience with Soccer Schools, Development Centres and football festivals, each with their own unique challenges.

“Teddy is a great member of staff. He brings great energy to every session that he delivers” – Harry Warren, Youth Development Phase Coordinator

Following his initial degree, Teddy is now studying in his third year on our higher coaching qualification and continues to get involved with many of our different programmes. He’s become a valued member of the team bringing fun and enthusiasm to sessions, and is a firm favourite of our participants.
