We’re back for our weekly update on how our community teams are getting on this season! Full reports below…

Wyrley Ladies FC 6 – 2 Shrewsbury Town Women

A tough day at the office for Shrewsbury as due to injury and illness a depleted squad travelled to Wyrley which left no recognised goalkeeper in the squad meaning Beth Francis had to don the gloves for the game. A poor start led to five early goals being conceded and although Town did grow into the game, pulling two goals back through Jasmine and Lauren, they were left with too much to do, meaning the team fell to a second league defeat of the season.

Academy Shadow Squads

U13s – NC United 4 – 5 Shrewsbury Town

Town just managed to edge a tough but thrilling game on a poor pitch last week with two braces scored by Corby and Niall  who were both stand out players in the game with Jack  also getting onto the scoresheet.

U14s – Shrewsbury Town 0 – 4 Nuneaton Borough

It was a tough game against really good opposition for Town. Despite playing some good football and creating good chances, the team just couldn’t find the back of the net. Stand out players on the day were Thomas Cox and Jamie Webb

U15s – Shrewsbury Town 3 – 3 Hendesford Town

A really good performance and a hat-trick from Sam Gwilliams was unfortunately tempered by individual errors which cost the team the game meaning both sides came away with a point. Sam Gwilliams and Sam Pryce offering stand out performances.

Elite Squad – Shrewsbury Town – 7 – 3 Burton Albion

The team recovered well from their opening day loss with a free-scoring victory which could have been more, recording their first victory in style with some great football on display. Goals on the day came from Olly McDougall, Harvey Lewis, Rhys Hesden, Carl MurchJames Smallwood and a brace from Toby Morgan.

Development Squad – Shrewsbury Town 5 – 0 Shrewsbury School Third XI

A much improved Town played some fantastic attacking football, grabbing five goals with four coming from Steffan Evans and another from Kaiden Bourne. The team limited the opposition to only a few chances which were dealt with well by Kian Parsons in goal.

Keep your eyes out for our next update next week!
