Fresh off his incredible London Marathon experience, Education Delivery Officer Joe shared his experience taking part and also bringing home a world record!

On Sunday, the 27th April 56,640 participants took part in the annual London Marathon, including the foundation’s very own Joe Green, making it the largest amount of participants to finish a marathon setting a new Guinness World Record.

The event saw participants complete a 26.2 mile route taking them through the Greenwich suburbs, over Tower Bridge, and through the heart of London, crossing the finish line at The Mall by Buckingham Palace. Joe completed the route in an impressive 3 hours and 11 minutes, not bad for his first marathon!

Speaking with him about the experience, Joe said that his favourite part was crossing Tower Bridge as he was cheered on by his family who made their presence known by being incredibly loud!

His reason for taking part in the event was to raise money for a charity that is close to his heart, Mercy Ships. Mercy Ships are a charity that provide children, men and women living in sub-Saharan Africa who do not have access to safe, affordable surgery. The funds raised by Joe will go a long way to support those in need with this life changing support.

Despite him completing the London Marathon, Joe’s fundraising page is still live and accepting donations, so if you would like to congratulate him and support an incredible charity then please visit his page below:
