Nine participants from our Youth Employability Hub recently underwent CSCS training, in partnership with the DWP and IPS Safety Netting.

A CSCS card allows people to access employment and careers in construction.

With there being a significant amount of building in Shrewsbury currently, it is hoped that barriers to work in this area will be removed by obtaining the card.

Five participants passed the course and will receive their CSCS cards.

This has led to all speaking with a construction agency, which will lead to interviews with local building companies.

Youth Employability Mentor David Sullivan was delighted to see the progress made by the participants.

He said: “The participants started the course two weeks ago. To see them take on the learning, the exam challenge, and what that entailed was fantastic.

“The effort and time that they committed to this made it so rewarding to see. The happiness and positivity from them was superb.”
